Diego Aguirre holds a teaching degree (Licenciatura) in Philosophy and Letters, with an emphasis in Spanish Language, from Santo Tomás University in Bogotá, Colombia. With more than 15 years of teaching experience across the IB Diploma Programme, the MYP, and the national curriculum, he has spent over a decade teaching Theory of Knowledge in both Spanish and English.
Diego brings valuable leadership experience to his work: he has served as Diploma Programme Coordinator and Extended Essay Coordinator, and has trained teaching staff for the implementation of the IB programme in schools across Colombia. This gives him a complete understanding of how the IB works — from the daily classroom to its assessment criteria and its highest expectations. He has been trained directly by the IBO and holds a B2 English certification (Academic IELTS).
He also tutors students in Spanish A: Language and Literature and supports learners in English B, always guiding them through the core components with clarity and confidence. Diego's students consistently achieve strong results in their final assessments, a reflection of his reflective, structured, and rigorous approach. He leads them along a genuine path of critical thinking, helping them not only meet the assessment criteria but understand how knowledge itself is built, so that every student develops real intellectual confidence and learns to enjoy the journey of thinking deeply.
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process. Each one is interviewed to assess their teaching ability, completes a test of their IB subject knowledge, and has passed a police and background check. They bring extensive IB tutoring experience and a proven track record of helping students achieve their academic goals
