Achieving a 7 in IB Visual Arts requires originality, strong technique, and in-depth critical reflection. Only about 6–8% of HL and 10–12% of SL students reach this mark. Strategic planning and consistent tutoring help students maximize their artistic and analytical potential.

IB Visual Arts develops students' creative and analytical skills through personal exploration in visual art.

Students engage in:

The Comparative Study: Analysis and comparison of artworks from different cultures and contexts.

The Process Portfolio: Documentation of the artistic process, experimentation, and development of skills and techniques.

The Exhibition: A selection of resolved artworks with curatorial rationale demonstrating thematic or conceptual coherence.

Students also learn to articulate their artistic intentions, context, and critical reflection.

The Internal Assessment is the Exhibition, where students submit a curated selection of finished artworks with accompanying texts and a curatorial rationale. This accounts for 40% of the final grade at both SL and HL. Our tutors guide students in selecting and refining artworks, crafting curatorial statements, and articulating visual intentions.

Visual Arts tutors help students refine techniques, develop artistic concepts, and improve analytical writing. They support progress in all three components and offer guidance on art criticism, curatorial writing, and effective presentation. This holistic support helps students build portfolios that reflect both creativity and academic depth.

Tutoring is tailored to the student's artistic style and strengths. Tutors help plan and critique artworks, document processes, and structure the Comparative Study. They also assist with writing the curatorial rationale and preparing for external assessments.

Standard Level (SL):

Comparative Study (20%): Analysis of artworks and cultural contexts (externally assessed).

Process Portfolio (40%): Documented creative process and techniques (externally assessed).

Exhibition (40%): Internal Assessment with resolved artworks and curatorial rationale.

Higher Level (HL):

Same components as SL, with extended requirements in quantity and depth.

Our tutors assist in developing each component to meet IB criteria and personal artistic goals.
