I received tutoring for Maths Analysis and Approaches SL, Chemistry SL and Biology HL.
Why did you apply to get tutoring?
I was struggling with the speed of teaching in Maths Analysis and Approaches SL, and the subject was already a stretch in my abilities. I chose Maths Analysis and Approaches SL to enhance my university prospects and it was above my maths level. As a result I sought tutoring from Top IB Tutors to receive more one-on-one, personalised help with the maths concepts at a speed where I could effectively consolidate what I had learnt and begin exceeding, not passing.
What did you do in your tutoring sessions?
My experience with Audrey as a tutor could not be better. She was patient with my learning yet determined and firm, and this helped me to feel both supported where I was at as well as confident that I was on-track and not falling behind. She often utilised her iPad to visually represent trickier problems, and our sessions had defined organisation that maximised the sessions efficiency in only an hour. Very early on she trained me to improve at answering exam questions under time pressure, which I found extremely helpful when the exam arrived. Any questions that she struggled to answer in our own session, she would complete voluntarily afterhours and text me the answer, which I did not expect and found so beneficial.
Did you see any improvements?
My average since being tutored by Audrey increased from near 55% to 75%, which was major for me. Over the course of my long-term tutoring with her, I was lucky enough to be awarded a 6/7 for my MAA SL final exam. Before my tutoring with Audrey, I had established that I would only be able to pass this subject with a 5 at most, and Audrey's diligence and confidence in my ability turned my skills and attitude around.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied were you with your experience with Top IB Tutors?
10. They are highly organised across both administrative and tutoring fronts, and the process was easy. Audrey was a very capable tutor and I never had doubts in her knowledge of the topic or ability to tutor me.
What were the most significant benefits you gained from Top IB Tutors tutoring? How did it contribute to your academic growth or confidence?
A more confident approach to Maths Analysis and Approaches SL as a whole amongst a smart cohort, increased grade output, and a general faith in myself that Maths wasn't something I was fundamentally weaker at and that the right approach to teaching is so important.
