Private IB Economics Tutors

The Internal Assessment requires students to write three commentaries analyzing real-world economic events using theory from the syllabus. Each commentary is based on a news article and is 750 words long. The IA is worth 30% (SL) and 20% (HL) of the final grade. To get a 7, students must consistently perform well in essays, data responses, and the IA. Around 10–12% of HL and 12–14% of SL students achieve a 7. Strong analytical writing, exam technique, and application of theory are crucial—and tutoring helps sharpen all three.

Paper 1 (1 hour 15 minutes): Extended-response essays on micro and macroeconomics (30 marks).

Paper 2 (1 hour 45 minutes): Data response questions on global and development economics (40 marks).

Higher Level (HL):

Paper 1 (1 hour 15 minutes): Same format as SL (30 marks).

Paper 2 (1 hour 45 minutes): Same format as SL (40 marks).

Paper 3 (1 hour 45 minutes): Policy-based quantitative problems using real data (60 marks).
