The Internal Assessment is a mathematical exploration based on a real-world scenario of the student's choosing. Students produce a written report demonstrating the application of mathematics using appropriate tools and analysis. It counts for 20% of the final grade at both SL and HL. The syllabus includes five main topics:Number and Algebra: Sequences, financial mathematics, logarithms, and exponents.Functions: Real-world modeling, function representation, and transformation.Geometry and Trigonometry: Spatial reasoning, measurement, 3D shapes, and vectors.Statistics and Probability: Data collection, analysis, and probabilistic models.Calculus: Basic differentiation and integration with applications in real-world change and area estimation.Higher Level (HL) students study additional advanced content such as matrices, complex numbers, and more sophisticated statistical methods.
