I am Hans Koster and a native from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I have been teaching IB/DP , IGCSE and 'O' and 'A' levels for the last 20 years on a variety of internationals schools, both in Europe and the U.S. I carry degrees from Leiden Uni. in Leiden, The Netherlands, and completed my doctors course work at Carnegie-Mellon Uni. in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. I have played First Division Amateur soccer in Holland and have coached for the last 20 years as well. Besides being a soccer fanatic, I am also a wolf conservationist supporter being associated with Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in Ramah, NM. I read quite a lot as well and try and link my readings to what I teach in IB History and ToK. Finally, and not necessarily on an academic note, I am a Monty Python fan, so you know(LoL). Cheers, Hans.
My tutoring style is a combination of professional discussions about the concerns a student has about his/er historical information both from texts as from what is/was discussed in class. Besides this, I am also a very personal individual who cares for his students and with a good sense of humour. When draft papers are submitted I use Google Docs and when a student wants to chat, I use Google Meet an easy and quick way to talk. Finally, in my communications with students, I am direct, open and honest and I expect my students to be likewise. I want them to ask questions and be aware that "not knowing is good!"
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process. Each one is interviewed to assess their teaching ability, completes a test of their IB subject knowledge, and has passed a police and background check. They bring extensive IB tutoring experience and a proven track record of helping students achieve their academic goals
